Police appeal after pedestrian dies in Stoke-on-Trent crash

Staffordshire Police are appealing for information following a fatal crash in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers were called to the A500 at Porthill at 7.30pm on Saturday (11 April) following reports of a man who came into collision with a black Skoda.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Sadly, the man, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers."

Staffordshire Police explained that the driver of the Skoda was not injured.

Before the crash, the pedestrian was seen walking on the Middleport bound lane of the overbridge.

Staffordshire Police added: "We are appealing for anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact us. Call 101, quoting incident 680 of 11 April, use Live Chat on our website or email [email protected],uk.

"We are asking not to speculate on social media as to the circumstances of the incident and to show sensitivity to the relatives and friends of the victim at this difficult time."
