Plans have been submitted to the local council for three new shops and a new takeaway in a town centre in Stoke-on-Trent.

The applicant, Mrs Harki, is seeking permission for a "mixed use development" at the former Wedgwood House Printing Works in Burslem town centre.

The development would "include the creation of three retail units and one hot food takeaway to the ground floor with ancillary storage to first floor, partial change of use of first floor and change of use of second floor to one residential unit".

The applicant says the building has been vacant for some time (Image via planning application).

A Statement of Significance submitted alongside the application says the exterior of the building will be retained and refurbished, including the wooden windows so that "no UPVC windows are proposed".

The ground floor will form three retail units and one hot food takeaway, all of which will operate between 7am and 11pm everyday - no other details about the new businesses have been provided.

The first and second floor will form a new flat, with four bedrooms on the first floor and a lounge, kitchen and dining area on the second floor.

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months, the full planning application can be viewed here.
