Plans for a huge new self-storage facility in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, have been submitted to the local council.

AIM Land Limited has submitted a planning application for the "change of use of basement, ground floor, first floor and part of the second floor to provide self-storage units with associated parking alongside elevational alterations" at the former Go Outdoors, New Hall Street, Hanley.

The 0.61 hectares site currently has 487 parking spaces and 242 are proposed, resulting in a loss of 245 spaces.

A total of 245 parking spaces are proposed for the site (Google).

A Transport Statement, submitted as part of the application, says: "The existing car park access off Sampson Street to the development site is to be retained whilst the existing service access is also to be retained.

"In summary, within the vicinity of the site there is good pedestrian and cycle infrastructure, and regular bus services. The site therefore benefits from a good level of accessibility for potential employees and visitors of the proposed storage warehouse".

No further details have been provided at this stage; the full planning application can be viewed here.
