Plans for six brand-new flats in Longton rejected by local council
Plans for six brand-new flats on a busy street in Longton have been rejected by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Zalismy Ltd applied for permission to transform vacant units on Market Street into six one-bedroom flats in August this year.
The units were previously used as offices, but the commercial units below have been empty for some time and construction work is currently ongoing on the building.
Each flat would be complete with a kitchen and lounge, bedroom and ensuite.
The Highways department submitted no objection to the plans but did say: "The site has no off street parking provision, however it is located within Longton Town Centre and is therefore served well by public transport links, local services and amenities, and public pay and display car parks.
"In addition, the adjacent highway network is protected with parking and waiting restrictions. It is also noted that an area of cycle storage has been included which is to be welcomed."
Stoke-on-Trent City Council rejected the application on the basis that "the developer provided insufficient information to enable the Local Planning Authority to establish whether the proposed development complies with, any conditions, limitations or restrictions specified" in terms of elevations of the new flats.
