Plans have been put forward to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to convert a unit on an industrial estate in Milton into a children's play centre.

Unit 5C on Norton Lane Industrial Estate, between JCR Football Coaching and LT Garage Doors, is currently vacant.

The applicant, Mrs Clarkson of Sammons Architectural Ltd, wants to develop the unit into a children's play centre with associated internal and external alterations including new entrance and fire doors and a dropped kerb.

Four extra parking spaces would also be provided, creating a total of nine spaces for staff and visitors (Nub News).

A sequential assessment submitted as part of the application states: "The business plan is to allow children to be dropped up in small groups to have "play sessions" with one staff member usually.

"It is not envisaged that more than eight children would be at any session. They would have to pre-book online, and when the session finishes, 45 minutes "buffer" would be needed to clear the site to ensure there is no crossover in terms of new people and existing people in and out.

"Using various play exercises, the staff member would allow them to play whilst also engaging if needed."

The 472 square meter site on Bellerton Lane is currently vacant (Nub News).

Facilities for children would include play shops, small toys and equipment and dressing up clothes.

The new play centre would be open from 8am until 7pm during the week, but close slightly earlier on weekends.

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
