Co-op, on Weston Road, Meir, will close on Saturday 13 July (Nub News).

An opening date has been confirmed for a new retailer which will take over the Co-op store in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent.

Co-op, on Weston Road, has been sold and next week will be taken over by an independent retailer, trading as a Nisa store.

Co-op will close on Saturday 13 July and a spokesperson for Nisa told Nub News the new store is expected to open on Saturday 20 July.

A spokesperson also confirmed that the store will not have the Nisa fascia above the door, it will be an independent fascia but the store will get its product supply from Nisa.

The new store is expected to open on Saturday 20 July (Nub News).

All Nisa stores are independently owned and operated by independent retailers; some choose to operate under Nisa and others do not.

No more information about the retailer has been released.

A spokesperson for Co-op said: "Co-op regularly reviews its stores and the decision to sell any store is only taken after careful consideration.

"Colleagues, who have been informed and are being fully supported, will transfer to the new operator.

"We would like to thank the Meir community for their support of the Co-op."
