Pedestrian dies following hit-and-run in Stoke-on-Trent

Officers from Staffordshire Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver following the death of a man in Stoke-on-Trent on Friday evening (11 April).
Emergency services were called to Newcastle Lane in Penkhull at 9pm on Friday following a report that a car had hit a pedestrian - the driver didn't stop and drove away.
Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended but the man was found with serious injuries and pronounced dead at the scene a short time after their arrival.
On Friday a cordon was put in place, shutting Newcastle Lane, while officers tried to establish more about the tragedy.
Staffordshire Police says the car involved may be black but they are unable to confirm any other details at present.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We're appealing for information after a man tragically died following a non-stop collision in Stoke-on-Trent.
"We were called to Newcastle Lane in Penkhull at 9pm tonight (Friday 11 April) following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
"Officers went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"The pedestrian, a man, was found with serious injuries at the scene. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
"Officers have put a cordon in place at the scene and are carrying out enquiries to find out more about what happened and where the car went after the collision.
"We think the car involved was black but we've not been able to confirm the make or model or description of the driver at this stage."
