A North Staffordshire artist will be displaying her experimental, woven landscapes in an upcoming exhibition in Stoke-on-Trent.

Artist, Andie Dale, from Stanley, will be bringing her 'Woven Landscapes' exhibition to U7 Arts and Culture Centre in Longton from 7 February to 8 April.

Andie, who often takes inspiration from nature and surrounding landscapes, described her art style as "very experimental".

She regularly uses a range of photography techniques producing cyanotypes, anthotypes and cholorotypes.

"Anything that's nature-based and cheap," she explained.

The upcoming exhibition features Andie's hand woven photographs which blend local landscapes with natural scenes.

Andie said: "You can't go more than 40 yards without finding a bottle kiln around Stoke and they lend themselves."

"You come out to Stanley, and you can see the lakes and the Peak District, but then you go into Stoke and you can see so many industrial things.

"There's just such a wide variety of things you can find within 50 miles."

The 41-year-old teaching assistant started to share her photography work after responding to the 'Our People, Our Places' open call by Grain Photography Hub in 2020.

Since then, she has been involved in a number of projects and exhibitions, such as featuring in the Three Counties Awards for the past three years and being invited to be a panelist at the 2024 NEC photography show.

Her advice to other people in North Staffordshire interested in the arts was to "get involved".

Andie said: "Go to places like B.Arts, Urban Wilderness and Urban arts, because they are always welcoming and inclusive.

"Honestly, they are the nicest people in the world and they always feed you!"

She added: "There are no limits. You don't have to be qualified, you don't have to be a 'fine artist', you can just go in and find what works for you. There is always an avenue and somebody that is interested and can help you.

"So definitely get involved, what have you got to lose?"

Woven Landscapes will be on display at U7 Arts and Culture Centre in Longton from 7 February to 8 April from 10am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday.

Andie Dale will be in attendance at the opening reception on Saturday 7 February, where drinks and refreshments will be available.
