A former garage site in Newcastle-under-Lyme could be redeveloped to create nine new apartments.
Permission in principle is being sought for a two storey apartment block on vacant land at Dunkirk.
A planning application form submitted to Newcastle Borough Council said: "The site formerly accommodated 12 domestic lock up garages.
"These structures have since been demolished, leaving the land vacant and unused.
"The site is currently clear, with the former hardstanding still visible in some areas.
"The land now represents an opportunity for regeneration through the delivery of new residential dwellings.
"The development will be two storey to keep in line with the neighbouring properties.
"The development has been designed to provide modern, energy efficient homes that respond to local housing needs and contribute positively to the surrounding community.
"The scheme comprises nine two-bedroom apartments arranged to create an attractive, well-connected and safe residential environment.
"Each dwelling will be built to contemporary standards, incorporating sustainable materials, efficient insulation and low carbon technologies where feasible.
"The development aims to support local housing demand, particularly for smaller households, young professionals and key workers (and) appeal to students and staff linked to the nearby college and university, providing appropriately sized and affordable accommodation options within the local area."
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has yet to make a decision on the application.
