Newcastle-under-Lyme organisation hopes to support families with new 'Baby Bank'

A new 'Baby Bank' is set to open in Newcastle-under-Lyme to support local parents and babies.
Community Cupboard NUL CIC - a not-for-profit service which provides emergency food parcels - will launch the Little Luma Baby Bank in June.
The Baby Bank aims to relieve pressure on parents facing financial hardship, by providing a range of 'essential items' and practical support during pregnancy and early childhood.
Thomas Cliffe, founder of Community Cupboard NUL CIC, said: "We're seeing more working families than ever before reaching out for help.
"Little Luma is our way of responding to that need — ensuring parents have somewhere to turn when they can't afford the basics for their babies."
The organisation, located inside Newcastle Family Hub, currently provides free emergency food parcels, period care products, and long-term access to support for individuals and families who are employed but struggle to afford essential items.
Thomas explained that the expansion of the organisation comes "as the cost of living crisis continues to place unprecedented pressure on working households".
He added: "No parent should feel ashamed for needing help.
"Little Luma is built on compassion, dignity, and the belief that every child deserves a strong start in life."
Community Cupboard NUL CIC are now calling on local residents, businesses, and community groups to donate baby items and support the Baby Bank ahead of the opening.
Little Luma Baby Bank will provide a wide range of essential items, including:
- Baby and toddler clothing
- Nappies, wipes, and toiletries
- Maternity products
- Formula (when available)
- Larger donated items such as prams, cots, and carriers
