Council bosses will be hoping to drum up interest in development projects at a national real estate event.

Officials from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council will be among the 16,000 delegates expected at this week's UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum in Leeds.

The annual event brings together investors, developers and local authorities from across the country.

Representatives from the borough council are attending as part of the wider We Are Staffordshire delegation from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

They will be promoting a number of developments in Newcastle-under-Lyme, either planned or under way, which together could deliver thousands of jobs and a multi-million pound boost to the borough's economy.

These include the council's three town centre regeneration projects, which are currently being brought forward by developer Capital & Centric:

  • Astley Place – the former York Place shopping centre, which is being brought back into use with 10 ground floor commercial units and 42 flats;
  • Ryecroft – a development of 175 homes and an aparthotel on the site of the former Sainsbury's and Civic Offices;
  • and Karparc, a transformation of the old Midway car park into 111 flats.

The borough council will also be looking to attract occupiers for the new Chatterley Park employment site, part of the Ceramic Valley Enterprise Zone.

Once complete, Chatterley Park will provide 1.2 million square feet of industrial and logistics space and deliver up to 1,700 jobs.

Other planned developments being promoted by the borough at UKREiiF include an 80 hectare employment site next to Junction 16 of the M6, which could create 3,500 jobs, and the 900-home Lyme Park residential scheme, on the former Keele Golf Course.

Simon McEneny, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council's deputy chief executive, will be speaking at three events at UKREiiF .

He said: "Once again UKREiiF will be giving us a national stage with key industry leaders and decision makers to showcase the exciting development and investment opportunities we have in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

"It enables us to have the important conversations with the right people about our ambitions for the borough, and to demonstrate the hard work and progress that has taken place over the last 12 months."
