A Newcastle-under-Lyme man has been jailed after he stalked a woman and called her around 600 times in a year.
Andrew Vaughan, 48, was jailed for two-years-and-nine-months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday (Monday 18 May) after he admitted stalking involving serious alarm / distress, assaulting a person thereby occasioning action bodily harm and threatening or share a photograph or film of a person in an intimate state.
Staffordshire Moorlands local policing team's PC Steven Cartwright, who led the investigation, said: "We worked tirelessly to gather evidence against Vaughan which led to him admitting the offences in court.
"I would like to commend the bravery of the victim in coming forward and telling us what had happened to her, and I hope this sentence shows that justice has been served."
Staffordshire Police explained that Vaughan called the victim around 600 times as well as sending texts, emails and bank transfers in an attempt to contact her between April 2025 and April 2026
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "On 14 March this year, he forced his way inside the victim's home.
"He verbally abused the victim, threw his phone at her, tightly gripped her wrists and slapped her across the face.
"A few days later, he threatened to send an intimate picture he had of the victim to her mother."
The victim reported the incidents to Staffordshire Police and Vaughan was arrested.
In custody, he gave a pre-prepared statement denying all allegations and answered 'no comment' to all questions asked.
