Plans for a brand-new 'traditional' convenience store on a busy road in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, have been submitted to the local council.

Qwerty Print Solutions has applied for permission to convert its vacant print workshop on Lichfield Street into a new retail unit.

According to the planning application, "the proposed retail use is that of a traditional convenience store.

The new shop would be open seven days a week and employ four staff (Nub News).

"The proposal represents an exceptional opportunity for the council to support a sustainable scheme that would provide social and economic benefits.

"Key benefits include the provision of a key local facility to support the local and wider communities, the creation of jobs and other indirect benefits to the City's economy."

The new shop would be open 6am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 8am-10pm on Sundays and would employ two full-time and two part-time staff.

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
