New karaoke and cocktail bar opens in Stoke-on-Trent

A new bar and karaoke venue has opened in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend with bottomless brunch and themed entertainment planned for customers.
The Strangled Cat is opening at the site of the former Bloom cocktail bar on Piccadilly, Hanley, and is a new concept by the owner of Breakthrough Bars, Ryan Fanthorpe.
Bloom in Newcastle has remained open but the company decided to close the Hanley branch after a "dramatic" fall in trade following the city centre riots last summer.
The new bar concept, which opened on Saturday 5 April, will still offer bottomless brunch but with a focus on karaoke and themed entertainment nights to coincide with productions at the nearby Regent Theatre.
Ryan told Stoke Nub News: "I want to be a bit of a hangout and just a cool place to rock up and have a good time with friends - how you'd imagine a city centre bar to be.

"It just seemed right to carve out something a bit different, which is a bit more in keeping with the street.
"There are a few cool vendors on the street including Little Dumpling King and The Slamwich Club, so I think The Strangled Cat hopefully aligns with that.
"The interior of the bar is just the inside of my head built out in real life.
"I'm a maximalist so I like crazy colours, crazy everything, so the inside is just a mash-up of everything and completely different to our other sites."
The bar will be offering disco fries and wings as well as cocktails, beer and wine.

Ryan also has some themed evenings in the works, including a Masked Singer event with costumes as well as darts and shuffleboard planned for upstairs.
He added: "I want to be super casual. I want people to be able to rock up, get a pint or a classic cocktail, some fries and then get on the karaoke!
"On Saturday [5 April] a Tina Turner show is on at the Regent Theatre so there'll be a hell of a lot of Tina Tina Turner stuff going on at The Strangeld Cat.
"And Wednesdays, we'll have things on and for Rocky Horror, we'll be doing themed karaoke to fit that and we'll be doing quizzes too so we're focused heavily on entertainment. "
