A new hair and beauty salon – which will give clients an opportunity to sip a gin and tonic while getting their hair cut - is set to open in Stoke-on-Trent.

Trim & Tonic, which will open on Heathcote Road in Longton on Tuesday 31 March, has recently received a license to supply alcohol to clients on the premises.

The salon will provide a range of hair and beauty treatments, which customers can receive while enjoying an alcoholic beverage.

Kate Darby, owner, said: "When you've only got a couple of hours free, you want to make the most of that time before going back to juggling day-to-day life.

"This will be a place where people can come to shut off from the world for a couple of hours, have a sit down and relax.

"We're a one-stop shop with hair, nails and beauty services. Some people can be with us for about half a day or even more, so why not have a drink at the same time?"

She has previously worked as a mobile hairdresser as well as from a home salon before moving into her most recent premises, on Carlisle Street in Dresden, three and a half years ago.

Kate won several awards during her time at the Dresden salon including gold awards for 'Hair Salon of the Year in the West Midlands' and 'Excellence in Customer Service in the East Midlands and West Midlands' in The British Hair and Beauty awards 2025.

She explained that the move to Longton was motivated by the need for a larger space, saying: "We took on a smaller salon, but we got busy quite quickly and pretty much realised within two years that we were outgrowing it."

Kate will be supported by a small team of self-employed and trainee beauticians and hairdressers who will also operate from the salon.

She explained: "I've been doing hairdressing for 21 years now. So, it's good to help and support the people that are trying to become established and successful."

Trim & Tonic will open on Heathcote Road, Longton on Tuesday 31 March. For more information, visit the Facebook page here.
