A new convenience store could replace a vacant cycle repair workshop in Stoke-on-Trent, if plans are approved by the city council.

Mr Singh, of Green Valley Cycles, has submitted a planning application for the "change of use of the ground floor to convenience store" at 145 Heathcote Road, Longton.

The unit was formerly home to Green Valley Cycles, but according to Mr Singh this use ended in February 2022 and the building has been vacant ever since.

The new convenience store would employ two full-time and two part-time employees and operate between 6am and 11pm every day.

The building has been vacant since February 2022 (Nub News).

A Planning Statement submitted as part of the application says: "The application site is already in a commercial use which would be replaced by an alternative commercial Class E use, which we consider would offer a range of benefits to local people through the availability of convenience goods without the need to rely on private car journeys, and to increase social interaction in the area.

"In addition, the proposed development would bring this vacant building back into a positive commercial use."

No other details about the proposed convenience store have been submitted - the full planning application can be viewed here.
