A new children's care home could open on a residential street in Stoke-on-Trent, if plans are approved by the city council.
Mr Peter Rowlinson, of Amelia Care, has applied for permission to transform a home on Duke Street, Fenton, into a care home for two children between the age of eight and 18.
Three full-time employees would work at the home and each would stay overnight on a rota basis.
A planning statement, submitted as part of the application, states: "Under the requirements of Ofsted, such care homes must be run as closely as possible to a typical family household, while accepting staff are employed on a rota basis to provide the parental support to children so many have missed in their early years.
"Neither the external nor internal appearance of the property will change. There are no special regulations that apply to this type of home which would require major internal alterations.
"The purpose of the home would be to support the children build their confidence, help them in developing like skills and prepare them for life when they leave the home to fend for themselves.
"This type of support has been found to be most effective in helping these children to have normal lives and nor experience problems in later life."
A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
