New 'bespoke' soft play facility due to be built in Stoke-on-Trent
A brand-new, state-of-the-art soft facility is set to open inside Hanley Market, Stoke-on-Trent, thanks to a funding boost.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has been awarded £9,477,820 from the UKSPF to deliver projects which support local businesses, improve local spaces and assist residents with employment and skills.
The new soft play provision will be supported by a programme of activities around a number of themes, including positive parenting, increasing physical activity and improving health and wellbeing.
Councillor Sarah Hill, cabinet member for children's services said: "We are delighted to be offering funding to this project as part of our Family Support programme. It's become extraordinarily clear that the cost of living crisis is the biggest challenge facing our residents and we're committed to playing a central role in combatting it, supporting our families and communities.
"This project will not only provide a bespoke soft play facility for our residents and access lots of other programmes to support families with finance, wellbeing and more. I'm really pleased that we are able to continue to invest in preventative and early intervention services in Stoke-on-Trent, to support children and families.
"The new facilities will help to boost footfall to Hanley Market and the city centre as a whole, giving a lift to the local economy and leading to increased opportunities for our market traders."
