A new bakery and café is set to open in Stoke-on-Trent this summer.

Elora Sovarschi is hoping to open Leafy Delights Bakery & Café on Cheapside, Hanley, by the end of August with cakes, macarons and speciality coffee planned for guests.

Elora lived in Italy for nine years, studying at culinary school and learning pastry techniques, before moving to Stoke-on-Trent nearly a decade ago.

In recent years, she has been selling her creations from home while working in a recruitment job but after a recent holiday to Romania with her boyfriend, Elora decided she wanted to invest in her passion.

They decided to take the leap and take out a lease on a city centre unit to open a permanent space for her bakery.

Elora told Stoke Nub News: "We are trying to build somewhere that is a warm and friendly place to be with the comforting smell of the cakes

"It's going to be a cozy place to enjoy coffee and we want to offer speciality coffee as well as matcha drinks.

"I'm trying to offer things that I can't find around Stoke-on-Trent. For example, I love macarons - so we will be fresh macarons, as well as honey cakes, small cakes, and fruit-shaped cakes."

Elora is working with her boyfriend to get the cafe up and running in time for when their parents come to visit Stoke-on-Trent in August. They hope they will be able to surprise them with their new venture.

Elora added: "Our parents, they don't know anything. Is going to be a surprise, because my parents are coming on holiday in August, and we are planning to open when they are here.

"We are now trying to finalise all the work before the grand opening and we are hoping to open somewhere around the 17 August."
