A "national retailer for all things geek" has suddenly closed its popular Stoke-on-Trent branch with immediate effect.

Geek Retreat, on Stafford Street in Hanley, opened in 2021 and sold a huge range of comics, posters, clothing, figures and memorabilia.

The gaming café and events hub was closed on Sunday (20 October) for "essential maintenance" but yesterday, (21 October), the retailer announced it had closed for good.

A social media post says: "Geek Retreat Stoke has now ceased trading. From everyone at Stoke we wish to thank all who have supported us over the years."

Stoke Nub News has approached Geek Retreat for more information.
