The A50 in Stoke-on-Trent is set to close overnight for two nights next week whilst 'routine maintenance' is carried out.

National Highways will close Meir Tunnel in both directions on 16 and 17 July between 9pm and 7am.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Meir Tunnel will be closed between its entry and exit slip roads for two nights next week for routine maintenance.

"The closures are taking place overnight when traffic flows are lighter but we still advise road users to allow extra time for their journeys."
