Meir teenager jailed after officers seize more than £2,500 cash in drugs warrant

A man from Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, has been sentenced to more than three years in jail after officers seized more than £2,500 in cash in a drugs warrant.

Officers carried out a drugs warrant at a property in Meir on 31 March this year and found more than £2,500 and mobile phones. 

Cash and the mobile phones were seized and shortly after, officers found messages on the seized mobile phones relating to supply of drugs.

Haris Mahmood, 19, from Meir, appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday (10 August) and was sentenced to 40 months in jail having pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroine and offering to supply cannabis. 

PC Lois Connell, of Stoke South local policing team, said: "Those responsible for drug distribution in Staffordshire will be targeted and dealt with as robustly as possible.

"Information and intelligence from our communities is key and, if you report your concerns, then we will take action.

"We will continue to take proactive action against those involved in supplying drugs in Stoke-on-Trent."
