A man suspected of using a firearm during a disturbance in Stoke-on-Trent escaped on a moped, police have revealed.

The police found one man injured by broken glass inside an address on Balfour Street, Hanley, as well as damage to two vehicles and a property.

Staffordshire Police now believe a man suspected using the firearm escaped on a moped in the direction of Abbey Hulton.

In an update Staffordshire Police said: "We're appealing for information about a moped that was being ridden when a suspected firearm was used during a disturbance in Stoke-on-Trent.

"We were called to Balfour Street, Hanley, at 8.20pm on Tuesday 18 February following reports of two men in the street, one with a long-barrelled weapon.

"We believe that a moped was used by the man with the suspected firearm who rode off erratically down Cromer Road and Leek Road, in the direction of Abbey Hulton."

Officers are now appealing for anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage in the area of Cromer Road and Leek Road to contact the police by calling 101 or via the website, quoting incident number 574 of 18 February.

Staffordshire Police added: "A man was found with injuries inside an address that we understand were caused by broken glass. Fortunately, his injuries were not serious.

"Two vehicles and a property were damaged.

"We are continuing to investigate including reviewing CCTV and analysing forensics from the scene."
