Man suspected of attempted murder after Stoke-on-Trent hit-and-run

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a hit-and-run in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police and paramedics were called out to George Avenue in Meir at 9:30pm on Friday (22 August) to reports that a fight had broken out in the street between a group of people.
A car hit a male pedestrian while the disturbance continued and he was taken to the Royal Stoke for treatment after sustaining injuries which are "not thought to be life-threatening".
Now a 28-year-old man, from the city, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after officers also recovered the car involved.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called at 9.30pm on Friday (22 August), to reports of a fight involving a group of people on George Avenue in Meir.
"During the disturbance a car came into collision with a male pedestrian. The vehicle left the scene and was later recovered at an address in Stoke-on-Trent.
"A 28-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"He has been released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.
