The court heard that Charlesworth raped the vulnerable woman at a property in Stoke-on-Trent in August 2023 (Staffordshire Police).

The judge said that Charlesworth's history made him a dangerous offender and that was taken into consideration when sentencing him.

DC Benjamin Lee, of the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences team, said: "Charlesworth presents a real risk to the public and this is reflected in the sentence he has been given by the courts.

"I praise the victim's bravery and courage for coming forward and reporting what happened to them. I hope this outcome will help the victim find an element of closure and that it sends a clear message that offences of this type will be investigated, and offenders brought to justice."
