Man jailed after using 3D printer to make firearms in Stoke-on-Trent

A man has been jailed after he used a 3D printer to make firearms and ammunition at his home in Stoke-on-Trent.
Igor Ciesielski, 21, from Bentilee, was sentenced to two years behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday (1 October) after officers seized a 3D printer, a printed firearm and around 30 printed components of a firearm on 11 May.
It followed intelligence that he had purchased items from an international firearms retailer.
Ciesielski pleaded guilty to manufacturing a weapon/device/ammunition specified in section 5(1) of the Firearms Act 1968 and possessing component parts of ammunition with intent to manufacture, at an earlier hearing.
Detective Constable Andrew Percy said: "The warrant conducted back in May resulted in the seizure of weapons and ammunition that could have caused serious harm to communities across Stoke-on-Trent.
"I am glad Ciesielski has received a custodial sentence for his offending."
