Man dies following crash on M6 in Staffordshire

A man has died following a crash on the M6 earlier today (Monday 17 August).

Staffordshire Police was called at 4.10am today (17 August) to the M6 northbound between junctions 15 and 16 following reports of a collision involving three lorries and a car.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "The driver of the car, a man, sadly died at the scene.

"His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers."

The driver of one of the lorries, a man, has been taken to hospital.

The police force said his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.

The M6 northbound currently remains closed between J15 Hanchurch Interchange and J16 Barthomley Interchange.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "It is anticipated that the road will remain closed until this evening at the earliest due recovery operations."

Staffordshire Police is now appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact them by calling 101, quoting incident 86 of 17 August, or using Live Chat on the website. Collision investigators can be contacted directly on [email protected]
