Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following assault in Stoke-on-Trent

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two people were assaulted in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called at 5.45am this morning (Friday 8 March) after a man forced his way into a home and attacked two people near Cumberbatch Avenue in Fegg Hayes.

A man, in his 30s, suffered lacerations to his face and head. A woman, in her 30s, suffered similar injuries.

Both of them were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police have arrested a 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated burglary.

He is being questioned in custody today.
