Man arrested after woman found dead in Stoke-on-Trent flat

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in Stoke-on-Trent.
Staffordshire Police was called to an address at Oakwell Court at around 3:30am yesterday morning (12 July).
The police said a body of a woman in her 20s was found inside a flat.
A 30-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are investigating the death of a woman from Longton."
They added: "Next of kin have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers.
"A scene remains at the address as we look for investigative opportunities to understand exactly what has happened."
There was an increased presence of neighbourhood officers in the local area throughout the day to help provide reassurance to the local community and to gather evidence and detectives completed door to door enquiries to find out if there are any witnesses.
Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour overnight or can provide any CCTV or doorbell camera footage of that area, or has information about the incident, is urged to contact police on 101 immediately quoting incident number 188 of 12 July.
