Man arrested after stolen car collides with another vehicle on A50 near Blythe Bridge

A man has been arrested after a stolen car collided with another car in the early hours of yesterday (15 January).

Police on patrol spotted a Kia which was driving dangerously on the A50 near Blythe Bridge and shortly after the car collided with a Toyota Auris.

The driver of the Kia was seen running away on foot and thankfully, the driver of the Toyota was not injured.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and has since been released under investigation (Nub News).

A 32-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was later arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, drink driving, dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop after a road accident and when required by a constable, theft of a motor vehicle, theft from the person of another and driving without insurance.

He was questioned about what happened in custody and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police later checked the Kia at the scene and found out it had been stolen in the Sheffield area recently. It was seized for forensic examination.
