Man arrested after assaulting woman with a stick in Hanley

A man has been arrested after a woman was struck with a stick in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Derby Street at 1.15pm yesterday afternoon (10 April) after a man was seen causing a disturbance.

The man picked up a brick and a stick and used them to hit a woman after being challenged. He was also seen jumping on cars in the area.

A 42-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody (Staffordshire Police).

Thankfully, the victim's injuries were not serious.

A 42-year-old man, of no-fixed-address, has been arrested on suspicion of assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.

He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
