School celebrates funding for new play equipment in Stoke-on-Trent

A Stoke-on-Trent primary school is celebrating after receiving a funding boost for outdoor play equipment.
Gladstone Primary Academy in Longton has been awarded £2,000 from the housing developer Persimmon Homes through their Community Champions initiative.
The funding will support the school in purchasing new outdoor resources for its nursery and reception classes, allowing pupils to enjoy active play and outdoor learning as the warmer months approach.
Ellen Picken, outdoor co-ordinator at Gladstone Primary Academy said: "We are very grateful to receive this money as it will be invaluable in supporting us in developing our early years outdoor area for the children.
"At Gladstone, we acknowledge the importance of outdoor play in our children's all-round development. We want to inspire the children's outdoor learning and help them to foster a love of nature and the outdoors. We aim to continue to create an exciting outdoor space for all to enjoy and explore."
Cllr Chris Robinson presented the cheque to the primary school along with representatives from the housing developer.
Elaine Brown, Sales Director, at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: "Gladstone Primary Academy is located near our Foxfields development and we were delighted to be able to offer this donation. We hope the new play equipment allows the pupils to make the most of outdoor learning as we approach spring."
