Local mother launches first children's book

A local mother of two has self-published her first children's book.
Diane Thomas, a mobile nail technician and semi-permanent makeup artist based in Talke, published her book, 'The Dog Named Trifle', on Amazon in January this year.
The story, suitable for three to eight-year-olds, follows siblings Lily and Leo who find Trifle the dog alone in the park and beg their mum to let them keep him.
Diane said: "The book is about kindness, emotions and finding where you belong."
The book also features an interactive section at the end with questions about the story and a positive affirmation.
The idea for the children's book came after her children encouraged her to set their bedtime story to paper.
Diane, 40, explained that she regularly makes up stories for her 10-year-old daughter and four-year-old son.
After creating 'The Dog Named Trifle', Diane said that her "partner and the kids said 'this is such a good little story, you should actually write it'".
Diane added: "My children and my partner really spurred me on.
"If they hadn't spurred me on, it would probably still be sat in my phone now."
Without any prior experience of writing or publishing, Diane had to carry out a lot of research to write and publish her first book by herself.
She also used AI tools to help her create illustrations.
After seeing the book come to life, Diane said: "I think I've got a bit of a bug for it now."
Diane already plans to publish her second book, the Easter edition of 'The Dog Named Trifle',, in March and has more plans for books in the future.
She added: "Having two books out there, blows my mind a little bit.
"It just seems to have just happened overnight.
"I had written the book on my phone, in my notes app, so actually putting it to paper and having it available is amazing."
The Dog Named Trifle is available to purchase on Amazon here.
