An independent school in Stoke-on-Trent met all the independent school standards checked during its latest inspection after being found 'Inadequate' at an Ofsted inspection last year.

Kinetic Academy, which operates from Meir Youth Café in Meir and Core Building in Longton, was rated 'Inadequate' at the last standard Ofsted inspection in January 2025.

The school, which provides education for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, has since received two additional inspections, and was found to meet "all of the independent school standards that were checked" at the latest inspection held in January 2026.

At the standard inspection last year, the school was given Inadequate for "the quality of education" and "leadership and management" but given Good for "behaviour and attitudes" and "personal development".

This led to an "overall effectiveness" rating of Inadequate.

The report from the latest inspection said: "Since the previous progress monitoring inspection, the school has acted with appropriate urgency and rigour to ensure the curriculum is sequenced and detailed in all subjects."

The inspectors also explained that the school has improved the quality of teaching since the previous monitoring inspection and added: "Pupils are enthusiastic about their learning and are typically ambitious for their future and next step".

The inspection also found that welfare and safeguarding standards continued to be met at the school.

The report explained that the quality of leadership, which had previously been Inadequate, had improved since the standard inspection in January 2025.

The inspectors said: "Since the previous monitoring inspection, the proprietor has acted with rigour and thoroughness to address the unmet standards.

"Staff have been supported to develop and improve the implementation of the curriculum in all subjects.

"School leaders monitor and evaluate the provision continuously, making necessary adjustments and sharing information with staff so that they understand how to meet the needs of pupils."

Kinetic Academy has been approached for comment.
