A Stoke-on-Trent teenager has opened his own cafe in a local community centre.
Dez Bull, 17, officially opened Dez's Kitchen today (Tuesday 13 January) at The Whitfield Valley Centre in Fegg Hayes.
The cafe will now be serving breakfast and lunch, as well as cakes and desserts, at the centre which is home to the Chell Area Family Action Group (CAFAG) charity.
Dez, who has worked in hospitality since he was 14, said: "I want this to be the local cafe for everyone.
"I want people to be able to chat to each other and I don't want anyone to be afraid of sitting by each other."

Dez's Kitchen will be open every day except Wednesdays from 8:30am to 6pm on weekdays and 8:30am to 2pm on Weekends.
Breakfast will be served until 12:30pm and afterwards salads and cold sandwiches will be available to buy alongside a changing selection of cakes and desserts.
Dez explained that affordability is important to the cafe as he wants it to be accessible to everyone in the local community.
He said: "Since it's for the community, you should be able to get something for £1 or £1.50. No one should feel like they can't afford anything.
"Affordability is the most important thing at the minute."

The Whitfield Valley Centre and the local community are also important to Dez because he lives close by and grew up visiting the centre.
He said: "I used to come to the Youth Club, so I've been coming here for years.
"It is a good space because I am familiar with it and it's not as intimidating because I know all the people here already."
The cafe is open from today (Tuesday 13 January) 6 days a week (closed on Wednesdays).
