Lidl marked the opening of its seventh Stoke-on-Trent store with a grand opening event last week.

The doors to Lidl's brand-new store near Festival Park, off Cobridge Road, officially opened on Thursday (11 June).

The new store will be open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Dominic Bryan, Regional Head of Property for Lidl GB, said: "We are thrilled to officially open our seventh store in Stoke-on-Trent.

"This fantastic new store is a direct response to the local demand for high-quality, affordable groceries, and we couldn't be prouder to welcome the community inside.

"A huge thank you to everyone who helped us turn these plans into a reality - we can't wait to start making a real difference to your weekly shop."

The store will feature an in-store bakery, the "iconic" Middle of Lidl aisle, and customer facilities, including toilets with baby-changing.

Outside, there is parking available for cars and bicycles as well as rapid electric vehicle chargers.

As part of Lidl GB's commitment to renewable energy and carbon emissions reduction, some of the store's power will be captured from solar panels on the roof.

A spokesperson for Lidl GB added: "Lidl is proud to have already served households and the wider community in Stoke-on-Trent for over three decades.

"Through its surplus food donation scheme, Feed it Back - delivered with partner, Neighbourly – Lidl has already supported local charities and redistributed over 160,000 meals to those in need.

"Conveniently located on the North side of Stoke-on-Trent, even more of the community will also now benefit from what Lidl describes as 'The Lidl Effect', which highlights the wider impact of its stores."

The retailer is also inviting nearby schools to join the Lidl Foodies programme - a free initiative which aims to support the next generation to develop a love for healthy eating, with a focus on fresh fruit and veg.
