A once-popular café in Burslem is set to reopen on Saturday under new ownership with a launch event including activities for all ages.

Morning visitors to The Pavilion Tea Room can take part in activities including face painting, balloon modelling and enjoy a free chocolate fountain to celebrate the opening at Burslem Park.

The activities will take place between 9am-12 noon on Saturday 15 February and the new tea room will offer a full menu of home-cooked breakfasts, lunches and cakes from Sunday 16 February at 9am.

Emma Smith, Owner Manager at the Pavilion Tea Room said: "It is exciting times! We can't wait to open up and be in the heart of the community.

"Burslem Park is a beautiful place and we want anyone who visits to love it as much as we do, and take pride in the local area.

"We have redecorated the tea room and refurbished the toilets. We also have so many activities planned for all age groups throughout the year."

The Burslem Community Hub will also run community-led activities, a toddler group, youth sessions and a gardening scheme from the site.

The previous business at the site, Café Indi, closed in May last year due to 'unprecedented' challenges in relation to the cost of living crisis and issues surrounding the lease of the historic building from Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Cllr Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "The Pavilion Tea Room will be a fantastic addition to Burslem Park and we're pleased to welcome Emma and the team.

"The tea room will be a welcome feature for visitors and the additional work the CIC has planned will help to bring the community together.

"We are thrilled to see this space come to life and look forward to seeing residents make the most of it."
