Staffordshire Police has launched an investigation after a woman was found dead inside a Stoke-on-Trent home.

Officers were called to Emerald Way, Milton, following a call from the West Midlands Ambulance Service, at 5.50pm yesterday (Thursday 23 April).

The West Midlands Ambulance Service was already at the scene.

Staffordshire Police explained that a woman, in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

"A cordon remains in place at the address while enquiries are taking place."

Staffordshire Police are now urging anyone with any information that could help the investigation, rthat hasn't already spoken to police officers, to get in touch by calling 101, using Live Chat on their website, quoting incident 618 of 23 April, or anonymously calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
