Staffordshire Police has launched an investigation after a man was found with "serious injuries" inside a Stoke-on-Trent home.

An 18-year-old man 'known to the injured man' has been arrested.

Officers were called to an address on Nelson Street, Fenton, by the West Midlands Ambulance Service - who were already at the scene - shortly before 2.50pm yesterday (Thursday 23 April).

A man, in his 40s, was found with a head injury at the scene. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a "serious condition".

An 18-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 – wounding with intent and remains in custody.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A cordon has been put in place at the address while officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's injuries, which remains unclear at this stage.

"The man arrested is known to the injured man.
