Staffordshire Police says they are "continuing to progress" lines of enquiry into the fire at a historic Staffordshire Moorlands mill earlier this year.

On Friday 27 March, officers were called to Mill Street, Leek, after a fire was reported at 9.35pm.

Road closures were put in place and some residents were evacuated from their homes as a precaution while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said at the height of the fire, "up to six crews worked to contain the blaze".

Due to the damage, the Grade II listed Big Mill had to be demolished, with demolition work completed on 31 March.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Detectives from our criminal investigation department (CID) have been working on the investigation for a number of months.

"An 18-year-old man from Leek, who was previously arrested on suspicion of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, has since been removed from conditional bail and released under investigation.

"Another man, aged 18 from Stoke-on-Trent, has been voluntarily interviewed as part of our enquiries.

The police force said the cause of the fire has not been determined because of the extent of damage at the scene.
