A series of Christmas concerts featuring young musicians and singers from Stoke-on-Trent is set to take place at Victoria Hall in Hanley this November and December.

The City Songbirds at Christmas concerts will feature hundreds of City Songbirds (aged five to eight) performing alongside the City Youth Wind Orchestra on Monday 24 November and the City Youth String Orchestra on Tuesday 25 November.

The City Voices at Christmas concert will take place on Wednesday 3 December and will feature hundreds of young singers, including the City Youth Choir, performing alongside the Thursdays, a rock and pop band.

The City Music Service, run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, gives children the chance to develop their musical skills and perform together in public concerts.

The performances will also mark the conclusion of the SOT100 series of events, celebrating 100 years since Stoke-on-Trent was granted city status, and Kelvin the Kiln, the city's Centenary mascot, will be making an appearance.

Cllr Sarah Jane Colclough, cabinet member for children's services at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: "These concerts are a great platform for the amazing musical talent we have across the city, so there is no better to start the Christmas celebrations, while also marking our Centenary.

"Kelvin was incredibly popular at the last concerts and I'm sure families will love seeing him again.

"It's fantastic to be able to give so many talented youngsters the opportunity to perform and I cannot wait to see them in action. I encourage everyone to get your tickets now - you won't be disappointed."

Tickets for all performances are on sale now and are available to buy from ATG Tickets.
