A health organisation is taking on the running of a village library after the previous group terminated its lease.

Blythe Bridge Library and Centre is one of 27 community-managed libraries across Staffordshire.

It has been run by Staffordshire County Council staff for the past six months, but now has new management after a lease to Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust was agreed at the council's latest Property Sub-Committee meeting.

The organisation already runs several other community-managed libraries across Staffordshire, including facilities in Rising Brook and Norton Canes.

A report to the meeting said: "The property was previously operating as a community managed library by a partner organisation, The Care and Fun Club.

"However this organisation decided at the end of last year that they could no longer continue to operate the library, largely because the person running the organisation had other significant work commitments which precluded her from devoting the time she wanted to the library.

"The organisation therefore served the requisite six months' notice terminating their agreement with the council at the end of March 2025.

"Since that time, the library has been run by county council employed libraries staff.

"The Libraries Team investigated the possible options for this library facility and decided to go through a procurement exercise to try and find an alternative organisation to run it.

"Through this procurement exercise, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust were chosen to run the library facility for the next five years."
