A man has been injured in Hanley following a disturbance involving a suspected firearm yesterday evening.

The police were called out to Balfour Street at 8:30pm on Tuesday following reports of a man in the street with "a long-barrelled weapon".

Officers found a man who had been injured by broken glass as well as damage to two vehicles and a property on the street.

Now Staffordshire Police is appealing for information.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We're appealing for information after a suspected firearm was used during a disturbance in Stoke-on-Trent.

"We were called to Balfour Street, Hanley, just before 8.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 February) following reports of a man in the street with a long-barrelled weapon. He was with a group of other people at the time.

"Firearms officers went to the scene and carried out a search of the area. Two vehicles and a property had been damaged.

"A man was found with injuries inside an address that we understand were caused by broken glass. Fortunately, his injuries were not serious.

"A cordon has been put in place while detectives continue to carry out door to door enquiries, review CCTV and complete forensic work as part of our ongoing investigation."
