Stoke-on-Trent City Council has confirmed four day of roadworks to install a new traffic calming scheme on Church Lane in Hanford.
The works will begin on Monday 11th September and are expected to be completed by Thursday 14th September.
In a letter to residents, the council said: "These works are to introduce traffic calming on Church Lane in order to reduce excessive speeds and improve road safety in the area.
"The construction work is estimated to take approximately four days to complete and will include installation of speed humps, installation of new road markings and road signs."
Construction work will be carried out between 9:30am and 3pm each day, and the council said part of the work will require a road closure.
The authority said: "Due to the nature and location of some of the works, some tasks will need to be carried out under road closures.
"Diversions will be in place with the diversion route clearly signed, access to properties will be maintained although limited.
"Your co-operation during this period will be appreciated, as disruption and delays will be inevitable.
"Please allow extra time for your journey and take care to drive safely through the roadworks.
"We aim to carry out the works with the minimum amount of disruption that our works will allow."
Ward councillor Dan Jellyman welcomed the announcement.
He said: "It is great to see the Church Lane road safety scheme about to start. I have been pushing for these works along Church Lane for a number of years, following requests by local residents.
"It is a narrow road, which serves a church, a nursery, a care home and a number of residential homes. It is also a key route for the local bus service to use.
"I hope these speed reduction measures and new 20mph speed limit will help make the road safer for pedestrians and motorists, and keep traffic flowing in Hanford."
The authority confirmed it has appointed Galliford Try Infrastructure Ltd to carry out the work, but warned that adverse weather conditions may delay the work.
