A vacant social club in Stoke-on-Trent could be converted into 16 flats if a planning application is approved.

Limitless Investments and Properties has submitted an application to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for the extension and conversion of the former Adderley Green Working Men's Club on Anchor Road.

The proposals would add 15 new residential apartments alongside the one existing apartment on the site, which the applicant says has been vacant since 2023.

The 16 proposed residential units consist of 14 one-bedroom flats and two two-bedroom flats.

The application states: "Each apartment features an open plan kitchen, living and dining space and one or two no. bedrooms or bedspace within a studio type arrangement, and a bathroom."

The proposals also include a site office for use by a caretaker and increasing the number of car parking spaces from 15 to 23.

The application states: "The proposal reuses the existing floor area to provide the residential accommodation across the ground floor and part first floor of the building.

"A minor extension to the south east corner would square off the building, using an existing brick wall enclosed area, and encompassing the bedroom accommodation for apartment 10.

"The existing outdoor courtyard between the existing building structures would provide for a new infill amount of built form to provide a new stairwell to the existing apartment (apartment no. 16) to replace that lost as part of the renovation."

The application adds: "The proposals would comprise the suitable and sustainable development of a previously developed site within the Longton area of Stoke on Trent which would provide new housing to assist in the shortfall of housing land supply of the Council."

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has yet to make a decision on the application.
