A former betting shop in Stoke-on-Trent could become a new restaurant, if plans are approved by the city council.

Mr P Sargeant has applied for permission to change the use of the ground floor of 376 Blurton Road, Blurton, from a betting shop to a restaurant.

The unit, which was previously occupied by Coral, currently has six parking spaces and no changes to this are planned.

According to planning documents, the new eatery would create ten jobs and operate between 11am and 10.30pm seven days a week.

The staff room at the back of the building would become a kitchen and no changes are proposed to the toilet facilities, which are currently towards the rear of the building.

A planning drawing reveals that seven tables would fit on the ground floor, but it is not stated what kind of restaurant is planned for the site.

A comment has already been received from Staffordshire Police, which states: "The commercial premises is located in what is very predominantly a residential area and is set between residential dwellings.

According to planning documents, the new eatery would create ten jobs (Nub News).

"It is noted that the proposed hours of operation of the restaurant are to be 1100-2230 each day. It is not envisaged these should unduly negatively impact upon the residential amenity of the immediate dwellings, especially given the main road location and noise associated with passing traffic, as well as the presence of a small number of commercial premises on the opposite side of the road."
