A teenage boy from Cheadle has been arrested as a lawnmower was stolen from an address in Upper Tean.

Police were called just before 4.45am yesterday (3 June), after three masked boys were seen pushing a petrol lawnmower along Uttoxeter Road.

Police also received reports of three boys attempting to break into properties in the Tean area yesterday.

A lawnmower was located at an address in Cheadle (Staffordshire Police).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers arrested a boy on Sapling Rise and seized a mobile phone and a key. A lawnmower has also been located at an address in Cheadle. 

"A 16-year-old boy, from Cheadle, was arrested on suspicion of burglary. 

"He has been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue. 

"The lawnmower has since been recovered."
