Former Staffordshire police sergeant charged with six offences including 'wilful misconduct'

A former police sergeant has appeared in court having been charged with six offences.
Thirty-eight-year-old Aaron Mark Evans, from Cannock, has been charged with: two counts of wilful misconduct / wilful neglect to perform duty; one count of improper use of police powers; and three counts of knowingly / recklessly obtaining or disclosing personal data without consent.
He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday 20 August, and is due to appear there again on Thursday 17 September.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Aaron Mark Evans, 38, of Cannock, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday 20 August) after he was charged with two counts of holder of public office wilfully neglected to perform duty/wilfully misconducted himself, one count of corrupt/improper exercise of police powers and privileges by a constable and three counts of knowingly/recklessly obtain or disclose personal data without consent of controller."
