A former GP, who previously worked in Staffordshire, has been accused of sexually assaulting a pregnant patient.

Ninian Thomson, of Randle Avenue in Rainford, is set to stand trial after being charged with sexual assault.

The alleged offence relates to an incident involving a pregnant patient at Moody Street GP in Congleton in 1990, where he was working as a doctor at the time.

That practice no longer exists.

Thomson also worked as a GP in Staffordshire and Scotland.

The 71-year-old appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on March 9 of this year.

He is next due to appear at Chester Crown Court for a trial beginning May 27, 2027.
