Former pub in Stoke-on-Trent to be demolished and replaced with new housing
A former pub in Stoke-on-Trent is set to be demolished and replaced with new housing after plans were approved by councillors.
Brindley's Lock, on Silverstone Crescent in Packmoor, closed in May 2022 and according to a planning statement this was the result of the Covid-19 pandemic and competition from other pubs in the area.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has granted permission for the pub to be demolished and replaced with seven new residential dwellings with new vehicle access, landscaping and associated works.
The officers report states: "All dwellings would be two storey, of contemporary design, and would be a mix of detached and semi-detached properties with off street parking comprising a mix of single and double garages set back behind parking spaces.
"The development would be served by a new highway accessed from Silverstone Crescent with properties set back in a suburban layout with front and rear gardens and where properties address the new highway."
The site currently has space for 65 cars but only 22 parking spaces are proposed for the development - 14 off-road and eight garage spaces.
Permission was granted for the work to go ahead on 12 October and construction work is expected to begin in the coming months.
